"In corporate worship, we unite ourselves with others to acknowledge the holiness of God, to hear God's Word, to offer prayer, and to celebrate the sacraments."
These words from The Book of Common Prayer's "Catechism" beautifully characterize worship at St. Andrews's York. We offer two opportunities for worship on Sundays: 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The 8:30 a.m. service is typically according to "Rite 1" defined, in part, by the use of traditional language "thee and thou". Our 10:30 a.m. worship is typically according to "Rite 2", defined, in part, by the use of contemporary language. This service includes congregational hymns supported by our choir, and the Eucharist is usually a "Sung Eucharist"
Every "5th Sunday" we have one service at 9:30 a.m. followed by a potluck in the Great Hall.
Throughout the year, seasonal and "special" worship services are held: Choral Evensongs, Holy Week, St. Andrew's Day -- just to note a few.
We hope that you will join us for worship!
