The Reverend Grant Ambrose, Rector
The Reverend Grant Ambrose began as the 10th Rector of St. Andrew’s in March 2019. Grant, Martha, his wife, and Alice, their daughter, came to York, PA, from Virginia (with Grant’s roots in Coastal North Carolina).
Prior to entering ordained ministry in 2011, Grant worked with the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resource – Historic Sites Section of the Division of Archives and History. Grant also taught high school English and history following his graduation from North Carolina Wesleyan College, Rocky Mount, NC, in 2001 with degrees in history and English.
Father Grant’s passions in ministry includes empowering all people to identify their God-given talents and to put them to work in the world as well as worship and leading Christian formation. Father Grant looks forward to the future of St. Andrew’s York as a beacon of the Good News of Jesus Christ in our part of the world – and beyond! Deacon Jan Brown
Deacon Jan was ordained as a vocational deacon on October 31, 2010, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral in Harrisburg, PA, and has served at St. John Episcopal Church in York and St. Paul’s in Manheim. She is pleased at God’s sense of humor in bringing her to ministry at St. Andrew’s York the parish in which she grew up.
Deacon Jan is a licensed clinical social worker and is employed as a psychotherapist in a
private psychiatric practice in Lancaster. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Dickinson College and her Master of Social Work degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. Her pursuits include bicycling, whale-watch cruises, conversation, Celtic spirituality, pilgrimage and travel to Scotland, and taking courses with the Stevenson School for Ministry for enjoyment. She is interested in ministries of reconciliation, community building, pastoral care and healing. Deacon Jan shares a home in Lititz, PA with her daughter Barbara.
